Singapore |
Singapore has a long and colourful history, the first mention of a settlement here
being in the 3rd century. It was in the 18th century that Singapore as we know it, was founded by Sir Stamford Raffles, on behalf of the British East India Company, which needed a ‘half way house’ for the supply and protection of its fleet to the Far East. |

Many of our clients who travel to holiday in Sabah, also stop off in Singapore for
a day or two, or, return to this lovely little island city state for a week of
relaxation and shopping. |
Now, in the 21st. century, Singapore’s links with Britain are as strong as they ever
were and you can find a city which is clean and safe, vibrant and exciting,
where those seeking age-old traditions are as entertained as those seeking chic
modernity. The charm of yesterday meeting the comforts and efficiency of
today. Though many people visit Singapore as a ‘stop over’ on their way to other parts of the world, we think it is a place worthy of a much longer visit. From the buzzing commercial and financial centre to the exciting local markets, Singapore can truly be called a vibrant city. If you prefer to relax there is plenty of opportunity to do that, too. Sentosa island, connected to Singapore by a cable car, causeway and ferry service is well worth a visit, where you can spend time at the interactive multi-media museum and feel involved in the history of Singapore. Also on Sentosa are a whole variety of entertainments, from the Asian Village, the aquarium, an 18-hole golf course, breathtaking rides, beaches and in the evenings the musical fountain and laser show are a must. If you prefer quieter relaxation, Singapore’s Botanical Gardens are amongst the best to be found anywhere, with huge lush lawns and small lakes and plants which are very different from those we are used to seeing. The National Orchid Collection is also housed here and is a great place to spend some time marvelling at the exotic blooms of these remarkable flowers. Singapore’s Zoo is also worth a visit to see animals in large areas, unsurrounded by cages. The Night Safari at the Zoo, where you are taken by electric tram through the animal enclosures, should be at the top of everyone’s list of things to do. |
